It’s finally feeling like Summer! I’m loving the freshness everything is bringing. Fresh flowers, fresh gardens, fresh air, I feel like mentally everyone’s had a refresh. I wanted to chat a little about how to feel more joy and achieve your goals. If you know me, you know I’m a total junkie for this stuff. Some people might think it’s silly but what I think is silly is not completely pursuing the goals you want. I think it’s silly to be stagnant and not continue to grow. I think it’s silly to not feel some sort of joy every day.
I’m not talking about just being happy all day every day. Life is hard, life is real and it’s not always joyful. But I’m talking about underneath all of it being able to feel that authentic joy in each day. To truly feel fulfilled and happy. Now we all get stressed, overwhelmed I get it. After I had Apollo, he was all I’ve ever wanted but one day my anxiety was so bad all I wanted to do was numb every single thing out. I was so overwhelmingly sad. So I started going to therapy because I was dealing with postpartum depression, anxiety and OCD.
I knew my family deserved the best version of myself and so did I. I’m naturally a pretty joyful excited peppy person and I was letting everything drag me down and I knew I started numbing a lot out. But after working consistently on myself, getting my goals clear, getting rid of the gunk and following some of the tips I’m sharing below I finally started making things happen and I’m here and I’m happy. So so so happy.
Work on the real gunk.
Do whatever it is you need to do to fully move through. Feel what you need to feel, go through what you need to go through. To truly thrive and embrace each second of every day you need to work on the stuff that keeps getting pushed aside and numbed out. I’m telling you when I started going to therapy, facing the things I’ve been suppressing for years I truly felt more opportunities come in, I felt more joy and I’m finally able to be still and live in the present.
Work on your future self.
Do small things that your future self will love you for. Whatever that means to you. Whether it’s folding the laundry, doing a quick workout, doing your full face wash routine, meal prep for the week. Do something small that your future self will appreciate.
Positive Self Talk
It’s so true, it all starts with you and within. Start telling yourself your goals can happen and that you are joyful. Not even kidding you, that positive self-talk stuff WORKS. Make it a habit, when you’re standing in line at Starbucks or in the store, feel gratitude for yourself, tell yourself your smart, loving, kind, beautiful.
Dream Board
Okay so many people poo on this but you guys, I am telling you just do one. Your dream board isn’t going to come true with you just staring at it. Let’s be real. But having your goals right in front of your face is a constant reminder to move towards them. It’s a great reminder of the things you want in life. With our daily lives we can get distracted and caught up in the little things but having a board with a constant reminder of your goals on them will help you to move towards them.
Journaling
Journaling is something that transformed my life. When I’m feeling stuck or overwhelmed I just write it out, I allow my thoughts to completely flow through me and when I’m so overwhelmed I ask myself why. I don’t judge what comes out I just let it flow and write. It allows it all to come out. Sometimes I get the best answers from myself.
I hope some of these helped! I wanted to share briefly a few things that have really helped to feel more joy and achieve my goals.
