I wanted to share a little backstory on this table in our basement.
This table was downstairs from the day we moved in, We have a 50’s basement so our stairway to go downstairs is pretty narrow so I’m pretty sure the girl who lived here before built it down there as a workbench as you can see from the before photos.
I loved the bench for some reason I mean it’s sturdy so why not try and repurpose it, so we did! We took the leftover plywood that is about 8in from our shiplap on the walls and with help from some family friends we ripped the pieces and created the table top.
Later we just stained it with the color Dark Walnut from Minwax and painted the legs with Behr’s Ultra Pure White.
So I had no idea how to freaking stain so how we got this look is
We used a brush to paint it on, then waited 15 minutes and wiped it. That’s legit how we did it, not sure if it was right or wrong but that’s how we got our look!
With a little sandpaper, we just smoothed it out a bit and then stained it. I didn’t sand the legs just because I didn’t want a perfect look. We first stained that part right below the tabletop, then I hated it so we decided to paint that white and I’m pretty happy with the end result! Also, our baseboard is getting installed this week and our couch should be coming in on Saturday. So woot-woot! I’m so excited to share the end result with you guys!
If you guys have any questions about it, make sure to drop it in the comments below!
