Lets be real, making money blogging is NOT easy.. So today i’m super excited to share with you the mistakes you’re making when trying to make money blogging.
In fact, this is hands-down the hardest I’ve ever worked in my entire life at something. Thankfully I wouldn’t want to do anything else, and I love and adore what I do, but there are a few things that took me way too long to learn and to start implementing. So guys, please learn from my mistakes and take these action steps if you feel like they align well with your current brand goals. Hope you enjoy, fellow bloggers! xo
Not Growing Your E-mail List.
Oh-MY-GOSH you GUYYYS grow an e-mail list. Your email list is where your loyal readers are. If you want to try and make blogging full-time make sure you are growing an email list, and you treat those people on your e-mail list like GOLD. Give them freebies, desktop designs, tips, blog post that are just especially for them. They took the time to not only read your blog – but punch in their e-mail to hear more from you.
Your Instagram followers are your Instagram followers; your Pinterest followers are your Pinterest followers, etc.. If Instagram were to go away, I’d lose 10k+ followers which would be a bummer, but are those really my blog readers?
Grow your e-mail list yo.
Not Using Your Own Voice.
So I’ll be totes honest this took me a while. I would try to mimic other bloggers I admired. It wasn’t until I started finding my own voice and writing how I actually talked when I noticed an increase in my readers return rate.
Trying to Work with BIG brands in the Beginning.
Always find what you want to blog about but if you’re looking to get sponsorships and work with brands in the beginning, make sure you reach out to smaller brands. Head over to Etsy, or local brands, plus who doesn’t love supporting locals!
Blogging Because You Heard there is Money to be Made in Blogging.
Anything you do that you don’t love can sometimes feel like a soul-sucking job. Although blogging seems like a glamorous job, there is a LOT of behind the scenes things that aren’t so glamours. Like learning SEO, generic coding, contracts, negotiating, “competition” (I personally don’t think theres much competition but people will fight me with that.) etc.. There is a lot of things that once you start making money with your blog, come into consideration. It’s all great, and being self taught, I’ve gained a lot of knowledge, but it is a lot of work.
So really, make sure whatever you’re writing or any content you’re creating you are absolutely in love with and please allow your blog to grow with you. You need to have fun with it and if you’re not your readers can tell..
I hope these few tips helped and I hope you enjoyed this other segment of Building Blog. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me through the contact form. I love chattin’ with you guys! Hope you have a great day! xo
