For this post I’m super excited to be partnering with Famous Footwear!
Find the Converse All Star Shoes Here!
First off the thing that lit me up so much about this is that famous footwear really wanted me to have a conversation with you guys about body image and acceptance.
and #2 this is sort of nostalgic because back in the day when I really really struggled with it was middle school/high school and back in those days I wore my converse all-stars all the time. So thank you to Famous Footwear for pushing me to open up and share and for gifting me these dope kicks, I defiantly missed wearing these gems!
Since I wore converse back in the day I thought I would share 10 things I wish I could tell my 15-year-old self.
1. It won’t matter what this meat sack looks like. yes, I just called our physical bodies a meat sack. That’s sort of what it is, accept your actual self, your actual being.
2. Find a community of people that you truly love and who truly accept you. High School was, let’s just use the world ooph, does that work? Looking back some of the friendships I had were so manipulative and so not authentic. Nothing on those people, because people do change but really really look at who you’re surrounding yourself with.
3. Don’t restrict, baby girl, please stop restricting.
4. Seek out some therapy, and don’t be ashamed of it.
5. Forgive yourself. You’ve made mistakes, you’ve hurt people and you’ve let yourself hold onto that and you’ve judged yourself, HARD. Journal it, connect back to God and let it out.
6. Talk to a friend that you truly truly truly trust. evaluate the people you’re around and determine who you could share these struggles with, chances are they might be struggling too.
7. Meditation, I get it, you’re 15 and you know everything. But meditate. Deep belly breaths heal a lot.
8. Focus on all the things you’re grateful for. Write it out, and feel it.
9. Treat yourself like a friend you love, seriously would you talk to your friend some of the ways you talk to yourself?
10. Truly deep down, believe you’re worthy babe and seek your potential.
If you’re struggling with anything, or feel like you relate to this post at all, make sure you’re a part of my Empowered babes empowering babes post on facebook! It’s a babe tribe of dope girls like yoself who are dedicated to helping and uplifting one another.
